Sport-Partum

Sport-partum is a documentary that follows the final performances of three Canadian athletes at the Sotchi Olympic Games in Russia, and joins them in their first year of retirement.

How are they adapting to their new life as “normal citizens”? What challenges do they face? In what state is their physical and mental health?

Over the course of these 12 months, they will meet high-profile sportspeople who struggled to cross this “nowhere land” and researchers studying retirement from competitive sport; a subject of increasing interest.

In a time when top athletes are revered as demigods, on this rare occasion, our camera sheds light on the flip side of the coin by presenting athletes who are no longer well-oiled machines, but rather like you and me: human beings in all their fragility.
